Sin Undone - Blog Tour and Giveaway!

Sin Undone
By Larissa Ione
(Tour Aug 30 -  Sept 10)

As the only female Seminus demon ever born, master assassin Sinead Donnelly is used to being treated like an outcast. She spent decades enslaved, and now vows she'll die before she'll relinquish her freedom again. Then Sin's innate ability to kill her enemies goes awry: She creates a lethal new werewolf virus that sparks a firestorm of panic and violence.

Half-werewolf, half-vampire Conall Dearghul is charged with bringing in Sin to face punishment for the plague. And she's no stranger: He's bound to her by blood, and the one sexual encounter they shared has left him hungering for her raw sensuality. Worse, Sin is the underworld's most wanted and Con soon learns he's the only one who can help her . . . and that saving her life might mean sacrificing his own.

Author Bio (from Hachette website)

I began writing the way so many writers do—the moment I learned to wield a pencil. But even as a child, I didn't write "kid" stories. I preferred something more dramatic. Something that didn't include Dick, Jane, and a dog named Spot. I wanted my characters to be named Dracula and my dogs to have names like White Fang or Cujo. I'll always have my parents to thank for that. They never censored my reading material (though I suspect that if they had truly known what was between the covers of some of the books, they'd have been a little more careful,) so when other girls my age were reading Laura Ingalls Wilder and Judy Blume, I was immersing myself in Stephen King and Dean Koontz.

Later, after I'd joined the Air Force and was in dire need of something to read between shifts at the weather station, I continued to read horror, but I'd branched out into fantasy, and then, finally, romance (though I admit I went kicking and screaming to the latter.)

Turned out that I loved romance! So I started writing it, but again, my style and voice leaned toward the dark, paranormal side. Fortunately for me, paranormal romance, as a sub-genre, was booming. I let my imagination fly, and soon I'd sold a series of dark, sexy paranormal romances to Grand Central Publishing.

I still read a lot of horror, science fiction, and fantasy, and in fact, one of my all time favorite books about writing is On Writing, by my favorite childhood horror author, Stephen King. If you're an author or a reader, I highly recommend this book for an insight into an author's mind—which can sometimes be a very scary place.

Go ahead; Seduce your dark side.

Ecstasy Unveiled by Larissa Ione (Book Review)

Title: Ecstasy Unveiled
Author: Larissa Ione

Publisher: Forever/Hachette Books

About the book: Lore is a Seminus half-breed demon who has been forced to act as his dark master's assassin. Now to earn his freedom and save his sister's life, he must complete one last kill. Powerful and ruthless, he'll stop at nothing to carry out this deadly mission.

Idess is an earthbound angel with a wild side, sworn to protect the human Lore is targeting. She's determined to thwart her wickedly handsome adversary by any means necessary-even if that means risking her vow of eternal chastity. But what begins as a simple seduction soon turns into a passion that leaves both angel and demon craving complete surrender.

Torn between duty and desire, Lore and Idess must join forces as they battle their attraction for each other. Because an enemy from the past is rising again-one hellbent on vengeance and unthinkable destruction.
(back cover)

My thoughts: This is book 4 in the Demonica series - I have only read the 1st one - and I enjoyed this one as much as I did the first one. I really wish I had read them in order though, as there was some back story that I believe would have made this more enjoyable. Sometime in the future I am going to have to go back and fill in the blanks! Larissa Ione has a way of creating chemistry between characters that just sizzles off the page. For paranormal romance lovers, this one is a must!

Ecstasy Unveiled - My review is late!

Today is my day to post my review for Ecstasy Unveiled - but I am not done with the book yet (and it is a good one - oh la la!) But I wanted to post something - so I will remind you that I have a giveaway for this book right now - ends tomorrow at midnight - so hurry! The giveaway post also contains a blurb about the book, so I am not going to repost that here - but I would like to share with you Five Fun Facts from Larissa Ione!

1. Ecstasy Unveiled was written in seven states; Virginia, Florida, West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin. Yes, much of it was written on the road during a move from Virginia to Wisconsin. (Florida was a vacation!)

2. Idess, the heroine of Ecstasy Unveiled, shares my love of fine Italian chocolate. And fine Italian leather. And Italian food. And Italy.

3. In previous books, characters moved around the world and Sheoul via the Harrowgates, but we never got to actually visit the demon realm. In Ecstasy Unveiled, we get to travel there, and it’s nothing like Italy…

4. The original three brothers in the Demonica series are purebred Seminus demons, a rare breed of incubi. But the hero of Ecstasy Unveiled, Lore, is a half-breed whose human blood has caused his Seminus demon gifts to go wacky. Where his brothers can use their abilities to heal, Lore can only kill, something that puts him at odds with his newfound siblings – and something that was fun to write!

5. In Ecstasy Unveiled, Lore reveals that he made much of his fortune during Prohibition by making and running moonshine. My inspiration for Lore’s choice of career came from my grandfather’s stories of growing up in the south and watching the exciting activities around him.

For some really great reviews - please see some of these participating blogs - and I will have my review up before the blog tour is over on the 7th!

Pleasure Unbound by Larissa Ione (Book Review)

Title: Pleasure Unbound (Demonica Series #1)
Author: Larissa Ione
Publisher: Hachette Book Group
Publication Date: 2008
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Why read: I read this in preparation for the next 2 books in the series which I have received as ARC's.

First sentence: Had Eidolon been anywhere but the hospital, he would have killed the guy pleading for his life before him.

My summary: Eidolon is a doctor and the head of staff at UGH - Underworld General Hospital. On staff are his two brothers, Wraith and Shade. But as you can tell by the name of the hospital - this is no ordinary hospital. It is a hospital for demons.

Eidolon is a Seminus demon as are his brothers -but they all had different mothers. At the age of 100, Seminus demons begin a stage called S'genesis. If they don't find a mate before that process, they will feel the urge to procreate with any and all females after the maturation cycle is completed. They will also be able to shapeshift into the male of any demon species.

Eidolon meets Tayla when she is brought into his ER. Even though she is an Aegi slayer, a human trained to kill demons, because of UGH's charter, she cannot be turned away. To make things even more convoluted, upon examination they discover she is 1/2 demon and doesn't know it!

And so begins the romance between Eidolon and Tayla - both of whom struggle with their desire to be together and their revulsion as to the other's lineage and profession.

Tayla's mother died when she was 16 - she was killed by a demon - a Soulshredder. Tayla was taken in by the Guardians and trained to be an Aegi. They are the only family she has ever really known.

When she discovers she is 1/2 demon - she doesn't know to which world she belongs. Add to that the fact that someone is killing demons for their body parts - and her cell of the guardians seem to be involved - and the mystery deepens.

My thoughts: This was a book I didn't think I would enjoy as much as I did. WARNING - there is "mature sexual content" and language. If you are a fan of this genre and haven't started this series - now is the time!
