What's on Your Nightstand 4-28-2009

This is my second month doing this post - I actually remembered it! This meme is hosted by Jennifer at 5 Minutes for Books.
Here are the books that I have finished this month:
  1. Lady Anne and the Howl in the Dark by Donna Lea Simpson. This was an arc from Sourcebooks and it was really good. I just received the second book in this series - Lady Anne and the Ghost's Revenge.
  2. An Offer You Can't Refuse by Jill Mansell was also an ARC from Sourcebooks. This one was a delightful British chick lit book. I also hosted Jill as my first author interview!
  3. Rachel's Tears by Beth Nimmo and Darrell Scott. This was an ARC from Thomas Nelson Publishers. I wanted to read it to commemorate the 10 year anniversary of the Columbine tragedy. It was heartwrenching.
  4. Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr. I read in preparation for Fragile Eternity which I have received as an ARC. I had never read a faery book before and this one was a great one to start with!
  5. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling. This was an audio book that I listened to whenever I was in my car. It had an ending that I was not prepared for but it was very good.
  6. The Boneman's Daughter by Ted Dekker. This was a galley that I received from Net Galley. It was my second Ted Dekker book and I loved it. I have since won a copy of the hardcover book as I plan on making his part of my permanent library.
  7. Fatal Illusions by Adam Blumer. This was a thriller that I read for a First Wild Card Tour. It was a great book with lots of twists. Also has a strong Christian foundation.
  8. The Girl She Used to Be by David Cristofano. This was an ARC I read for Hachette books. It was a good book, but not exactly what I was expecting.
  9. The Lost Hours by Karen White. My first Pump Up Your Book Tour and guest blogger - I loved this book and can say that it was one of my favorites this month!
  10. So Not Happening by Jenny B. Jones was read for a First Wild Card Tour. It was an okay book for me, but middle schoolers would probably love it.
  11. Murder, Mayhem and a Fine Man by Claudia Mair Burney I got from my library. I read the third book in this series - Deadly Charm - last month. I loved it so much I had to go find the first book!
  12. The Noticer by Andy Andrews I read for Thomas Nelson. This book was probably my quickest read this month, but definitely well worth it!

What's on your Nightstand? 3-24-2009

This is my first time doing this post - so it will probably evolve over the next few months as I figure out what it is I actually want to say and keep track of here. This is a cool meme hosted by Jennifer at 5 Minutes for Books.

The books that I have finished this month: (These were all arcs)
  1. This Side of Heaven by Karen Kingsbury - I really like Karen Kingsbury books - especially if I am in need of a good cry. They are always tear jerkers for me. My review is here.
  2. The Kingmaking by Helen Hollick - Great fiction book about a young King Arthur and Gwenhwyfar. My review is here.
  3. The Stones by Eleanor Gustafson - This is a fictionalized account of the life of King David - it does a great job of filling in the details of how it might have been during this time. My review is here.
  4. Marked by Passion by Kate Perry - This was my first paranormal romance and I loved it! This is also the first book of a series and I can't wait for the next one. My review is here.
  5. Diamonds in the Shadow by Caroline B. Cooney - YA book about a refugee family from South Africa. It was a quick read. My review is here.
  6. Scream by Mike Dellosso - Loved this Christian suspense book. It kept my attention throughout and I will be looking for more books by Mr. Dellosso! My review is here.
  7. Katt's in the Cradle by Ginger Kolbaba an Christy Scannell - Cute fiction book about pastor's wives and what they deal with. It was book 3 in a series and I hadn't read the first 2 - would recommend reading them first. My review is here.
  8. 10 Things I Hate About Christianity: Working Through the Frustrations of Faith by Jason T. Berggren - I unfortunately could not get into this book. Wasn't a bad book - just didn't really see some of his points. My review is here.
