Happy Sunday Everyone! I hope that everybody is enjoying what is left of summer. My middle daughter has her first day of high school on Wednesday, so we don't have much summer left here. (Be sure to check out the You Tube Video at the end!) It has been pretty gorgeous all week though so we have spent a lot of time outside! We went to a local festival the last two nights- Friday we got to watch Escape To Witch Mountain on a 40 foot screen in the park and last night we saw some awesome fireworks! Of course my son has been over-tired and sugared up, so he was usually completely wound by the time we got home. Tomorrow we end the weekend with church and then a parade. It is supposed to rain tomorrow though, so hopefully it will hold off until the parade is over.
Let's talk about comments - When you leave a comment on someone's blog do you like to get a response back? And if you do, do you look for that response in your email or back under the comments? I am always unsure as to whether I should leave an answer in the comments or email the person directly. I would love to hear what everyone out there thinks about this.
Ok - let's see. I want to take a minute to thank the Park Avenue Princess for the wonderful award she gave me awhile back. It is the Heartfelt Blogger Award. Thank you so much!
Do you reach for a cup of cocoa or tea when you're relaxing, seeking comfort, sharing a plate of cookies with family and friends? You know that feeling you get when you drink a yummy cup of cocoa, tea or a hot toddy? That is what the Heartfelt award is all about: feeling warm inside!
The Rules:
Put the logo on your blog/post. Nominate up to 9 blogs which make you feel comfy or warm inside. Be sure to link to your nominees within the post. Let them know about the award by commenting on their blog. Remember to link to the person from whom you received your award.
My nominees are:
Sheila from Sheila Deeth
Teabird from Tea Leaves
Sheri from A Novel Menagerie
Wendy from Caribous Mom
Kristi from The Story Siren
Marcia from The Printed Page
Tonya from Storytime with Tonya and Friends
Kathy from BermudaOnion
My list could go on and on and on! If you haven't checked these blogs out, make it a point to do so soon!
What is everyone reading this weekend? I am reading The Blue Enchantress by M.L. Tyndale - I lover the first book to this series The Red Siren and am gobbling this one up too! I have also started The Summer of Two Wishes by Julia London - It is about a woman who is told that her husband has been killed overseas - only to find out three years later that the army was mistaken - he had been a POW and had finally escaped. Only now she is remarried to someone else. Which love does she pick? Can you imagine having to do that? Having 2 husbands that you love and having to pick one? That would be a nightmare - but so far the book is really good!
I am going to leave you all with this YouTube video that they showed at my daughter's freshman orientation that we attended this week. It is an eye opener and really gives you a lot to think about!

This weekend I've been reading Hugh and Bess by Susan Higginbotham and loving it! Congratulations on the award.
I never really check to see if someone else has commented back. If I've asked a question I tend to prefer an email because then I will actually get an answer that I will read. =)
Congratulations on your award!
Congratulations on the award!
When I get comments I usually respond by email because I figure people with huge readers (like mine!) probably don't have time to come back again! But if there is a **discussion** going on, I will go back and check on the ongoing discussion.
I usually respond to comments on my blog page, but I am sure those who leave comments probably don't come back to my page to check. I think I will start sending emails instead!
This weekend I am reading I'll Be Watching You by Charles De Lint...very suspenseful!
Congrats on your award, too!
I generally don't expect an answer when I leave a comment, but certainly don't mind it when people do reply. Do whatever feels comfortable for you. Congratulations on your award - you made my day by passing it on to me!
If I want an answer for sure, I email but realize not everyone can comment. I moderate and read all my comments before they post and try ot go right in and answer but sometimes the time factor gets in the way. We should have some kind of universal sign or symbol we could put in a comment so bloggers would immediately recognize that this is a comment needing or expecting an answer. Thanks!
I generally prefer getting an email back because I don't generally subscribe to comments. Occasionally I will reply to people in my comments when I post, but I'm not very consistent about it. We still have over three weeks until school starts here.
I put a comment policy on my blogs so that people will know what to expect. I respond in the comment section of the post if a response is warranted. If it is just a "me,too" comment, then I try to at visit the person's blog and find something to comment on there.
As for what I expect when I comment on someone else's blog: I usually check the box that allows follow-up comments to be emailed back to me if there is a conversation going on. Most of the time, though, I don't expect a response. I mainly comment so that the blogger knows that someone is reading :-).
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I've been meaning to drop by and tell you... we are somehow cosmically (sp?) linked! Every one of your posts shows up on my stats sheets (daily) and tells me that your post is linking to my blog. Of course, this is not true. But, there is some code between our blogs that thinks this. So, every day I think of you and your blog!
I hope that all is well with you! Have a great Sunday!
Interesting question. I love getting comments on my blog, and I try to visit everyone who comments - It's a great way to get to know new friends.
And thinking of friends, congratulations, and thank you so much for the award!
I will plan on reaching for the cocoa and visiting your nominees' blogs tomorrow. What a lovely idea.
Thank you for the award! How lovely to know that my posts are are friendly. Yours certainly are!
I have my comments e-mailed to me. If possible (if I have the e-mail address), I respond directly. Otherwise, I respond in the comments. Some of my posts have generated rather heated responses, and, inevitably, I can't find an e-mail, so I respond in the comments. (The heated comments have been on political posts. Recently, one post generated so much heat that I was glad I wasn't being yelled at in person!)
I'm reading Agnes Grey along with another blogger. Somehow, I've missed reading Anne!
THANK YOU, Kristi, for the award! I love your blog too :)
Re: comments...if given the option, I always subscribe to the comments when I post a comment. This way I get alerted when someone else leaves a comment, including the host blog.
